About Oryx

Oryx Properties, established in 2002, has a diverse portfolio in Namibia and South Africa worth a total of N$2.326 billion. It is listed on the Namibian Stock Exchange in the Financial Real Estate sector. Owned nearly entirely by Namibians, the company is passionate about securing prosperity for its country.

Oryx Properties has 287 tenants in 25 properties in premium-quality retail, industrial and office real estate. In the retail sector (62% of the portfolio), the company owns Maerua Mall, Gustav Voigts shopping centre and Baines shopping centre, all in Namibia’s capital city of Windhoek. The industrial sector (27%) comprises various acquisitions in South Africa and Namibia, with 100% occupancy. Prime office real estate in Windhoek makes up the balance (11%) of the portfolio. Occupancy across all properties is at 97.9%.

Oryx Properties seeks to grow its portfolio through the acquisition or development of additional properties, which will provide escalating income streams from quality tenants to secure long-term earnings growth. In addition, Oryx may from time to time invest in listed real-estate securities, to allow for flexibility in respect of new direct real-estate investment opportunities, portfolio diversification and yield enhancement.

The company aspires to be a responsible corporate citizen and believes in good governance and leadership. It is heavily invested in exploring environmentally sustainable opportunities, one of which was the 2016 installation of a N$17-million 1MWp rooftop solar-power plant at Maerua Mall that generates about 20% of the centre’s electricity.
